His portraits, self-portraits, and biblical scenes display deep psychological insight and technical brilliance. Notable works include The Night Watch, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp, and The Jewish Bride. Despite early success, he faced financial struggles later in life.
